Waiting, waiting, waiting….
This is the first year I’ve planted corn early enough to have stalks “knee high by the 4th of July,” so this is also the first year I’ve actually had any corn to harvest. Every day I wander past the bed and squeeze the ears, wondering when the heck I can eat them. It seems like August is the hardest time for gardening. The pumpkins are turning orange, the peas aren’t producing, the zucchini is replenishing, the corn is growing….
Apparently I have to wait until the ears are round, not pointy, and the silk is dried up to harvest my corn….so it’s going to be a bit yet.
What are you waiting on in your garden?
