When I was pregnant with Walker, I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue. At the time, I thought it was just one of those “pregnancy issues.” It wasn’t. When my Ob-Gyn couldn’t get my thyroid levels balanced she sent me to an Endocrinologist who diagnosed me with Hashimoto’s Disease–an auto-imune situation that makes my body attack my thyroid. (there’s more to it than that, but you get the idea) Since my thyroid regulates every system in my body…kind of a big deal.

Six years later, I’m now finding out there are ways to manage the flare-ups with diet, so we’re about to begin a serious life-altering journey this Thursday.

One of the holes I’ve always had in my survival prep is medication. My dependency on my thyroid meds has troubled me for a long time. Hopefully six months from now, I’ll have a few more options…kind of excited to see where this journey takes us.

What about you? Are there medications/medical issues that affect your ability to prep for long periods? How have you managed them?
